Guangzhou 广州

The city of Guangzhou became my Chinese hometown. I have lived there for around 7 months and totally fell in love with this city. (Please check out my earlier blog post about my experiences in Guangzhou).

Guangzhou’s recorded history begins with China’s conquest of the area during the Qin Dynasty. The city expanded when it became capital of the Nanyue Kingdom (南越) in 206 BC. Due to this long history, the city features hundreds of historical sights worth visiting.

Besides its cultural sights, Guangzhou has also become very modern city with highrise buildings and modern architecture like the Canton Tower, the Opera House, Guangzhou Library and the Guangdong Museum.
